Learning Journey

Key Stage 1 (Lower Primary) :
Year 1 (ages 5-6) and Year 2 (ages 6-7)
Our Cambridge Primary curriculum starts students on an exciting educational journey to explore and discover what they can do at the early stages of education. Key Stage 1 develops students’ early literacy, including numeracy skills and teaches a broad range of subjects.
Following the Cambridge curriculum, attainment targets are set out for each student. Each subject and assessments are conducted regularly to monitor the progressive performance of students.

Key Stage 2 (Upper Primary) :
Year 3 (ages 7-8), Year 4 (ages 8-9),
Year 5 (ages 9-10) and Year 6 (ages 10-11)
In Key Stage 2, the focus is to provide continuity, development, and progression in all aspects of learning. Adopting the Cambridge International Primary Education, IIS incorporates opportunities for students to approach learning topics from both international and local contexts.
Cross-curricular approaches are used to promote concept building as a part of the teaching and learning experience. These include skills in technology, independent learning and investigation, collaboration and project-based learning embedded in the teaching and learning process. At the end of Year 6, the students will sit for Cambridge Checkpoint 6 examination, which is externally marked.

Key Stage 3 (Lower Secondary) :
Year 7 (ages 11-12), Year 8 (ages 12-13), and
Year 9 (ages 13-14)
Key Stage 3 is the beginning of Secondary education from Years 7 to 9. The programme follows the Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE); enhanced by international themes and languages in Malay and Mandarin.
Specialist teachers teach all subjects at this stage in dedicated classrooms. At the end of Year 9, the students will sit for Cambridge Checkpoint 9 examination, which is externally marked.

Key Stage 4 (Upper Secondary) :
Year 10 (14-15) and Year 11(15-16)
Key stage 4 covers Years 10 and 11. This stage offers a two-year IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) course culminating in examinations administered by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
During this stage, students will focus on a selection of subjects that include the core subjects of Mathematics, English, Additional Mathematics, the Pure Sciences, Information and Communications Technology (ICT), History, Geography, Art, Physical Education, and Mandarin, as well as continuing Key Stage 3 subjects.
New subjects such as Accounting, Global Perspectives, Business Studies, and English Literature are also offered in Key Stage 4 as part of the secondary school curriculum at Imperial International.
